After getting extremely bored with the stock sounds on Ubuntu, I Decided to make my own,
And I am sharing them with the world under the GNU Licence in a bid that they may be included in a Distro one day.
new-age-ubuntu-1.0.zip [3.06 MiB]
To use the included USB Sounds script, you need to install sox
on Debian/Ubuntu:
sudo apt-get install sox
or you can just edit the script to use a console player of your choice by changing 'play' to aplay for example and then include the script as a start up application in your desktop manager. (see your GUI documentation)
Also, make sure its pointing to the correct location of the sound files, by default i have the whole folder under /usr/share/sounds and this is where Ubuntu looks for sound themes and can be changed in bulk from the sound preferences.
Enojoy.
Note: The USB sounds script may use an undesirable amount of resources on systems with limited resoerces, you can increase the interval in secodns to reduce load (by reducing the frequency of checks is does) or you may wish to not use the script at all in some cases.
